"Live" Communicator - Technology
Q.4 What is the "Live" Communicator technology? "Live" Communicator has brought together award winning voice over the internet (VoIP) and video conferencing technology with our proprietary features environment to create a vibrant online communication system. The "Live" Communicator Internet based technology suite delivers high quality and "live" video and audio communications to any Windows desktop. Q.5 What is unique about the "Live" Communicator technology and environment? Because the back end of "Live" Communicator uses a technology that provides "peer-to-peer" connections, internet bandwidth is not an issue for online communication. The system connects two computers directly so that they are "talking" to each other. Regardless of internet traffic, you will experience one of the very best virtual online experiences anywhere on the internet. Q.6 What computer equipment do I need in order to use "Live" Communicator? Please refer to our Help section to see what equipment you need. Q.7 I receive an error message such as, "Video session failed to load" or "Error on Page" when trying to enter the "Live" Communicator for the first time, why is this happening? If you have an ad or pop-up blocker sometimes our client software is unable to download to your system. Either allow your blocker to permit pop-ups from www.livecommunicator.ca or disable your pop-up blocker temporarily. This will allow our proprietary software to download and will permit you to use our technology. You should also ensure that your computer's security settings are set so that you can download our client software. To do this go to "Internet Options" in Internet Explorer and under the Security tab set the custom security level to Medium. After the software has downloaded you may return your security settings to their original settings. Be sure to reboot your computer if you make these changes. "Live" Communicator - Troubleshooting Online Sessions
Q.9 What if I forget my User ID and/or password? We recommend you write both your user ID and password down somewhere safe. If you lose your registration information then email us at administration@livecommunicator.ca We will forward your account information as soon as possible. Q.10 I cannot hear/see myself online. What's wrong? First make sure that your camera and its software is properly installed. Refer to your camera's user manual for installation and testing instructions. If your camera is installed properly you can confirm that the video is working by clicking HERE If you use any other online video technology such as MSN Chat or Yahoo then you must disable these tools before your camera will work with "Live" Communicator. If you are still having problems then email us at administration@livecommunicator.ca and we will assist you. If you are using Windows XP and wish to confirm your audio is working properly, please visit our HELP section. Q.11 I cannot hear/see the other person online. What's wrong? Under "session info", the person you are meeting with will be listed if they are connected to the session. If the person is not listed they are not in the room. Are you in the right room? Make sure you are logged in at the correct time. If the person was there and disappeared, try and communicate by audio only or the text message feature to solve the problem. Your audio should not be affected if it is a camera problem. If you are experiencing echo during one of your sessions, CLICK HERE to find out what settings can be changed to remove the echo. Q.12 When I use the whiteboard function in the meeting room I am unable to see the entire whiteboard, why is this happening? Check to ensure that your screen resolution (set in your computer's Control Panel under the "Display" tab) is the same as the host of the session. |
