"Live" Communicator Help
Troubleshooting

If your system will still not connect properly with the "Live" Communicator interface go through the following steps:
  1. Make sure you are using Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher
  2. De-activate any pop-up blockers and/or configure pop-up blockers to allow "Live" Communicator to function properly. To configure your pop-up blocker, click on the tools menu tab of Internet Explorer and highlight pop-up blocker. Choose either "turn off pop-up blocker" or "pop-up blocker settings". The simplest thing to do is just "turn off pop-up blocker" however, if you choose "pop-up blocker settings" your screen will look like this and you can permanently add live communicator as an allowed site:

  3. Key in www.livecommunicator.ca into the menu bar called "Address of Web site to allow" and click on Add. If you want additional information on pop-up blockers click on Pop-up Blocker FAQ in the bottom left corner of the Pop-up Blocker Settings screen.

  4. Make sure Yahoo messenger, AOL, MSN or any other software that uses a camera is not active before you log into "Live" Communicator.
  5. To re-install your "Live" Communicator software click on the following link: http://www.livecommunicator.ca/setupNT.exe and follow the instructions
  6. To check if your connection is being blocked by a firewall click on the following link: http://www.livecommunicator.ca/scripts/firewall.asp and follow the instructions.
  7. To check your Active X control settings:
    1. Start Internet Explorer
    2. Go to Tools and then Internet Options
    3. Select the Security tab
    4. Click on the Custom Level button
    5. Your screen should look like this:

Make sure that your Custom Settings are set to Medium and that all the Active X controls and plug-ins are enabled except the first one as is pictured above. When complete press OK.
